Update from Pastor Yvel

Brothers and sisters, supporters of our ministry in Haiti. I am so happy to get in touch with you through this letter in which we want to share our joy, our pain, our hope, our projects with you.
Our satisfaction comes in the fact our churches are still there worshiping God, sharing the gospel to unsaved people where we are.
The schools you support continue to serve the population even many others moved far of their place or closed their doors because of armed gangs and persecutions. At the end of the school year, we had a good time of prayer and evangelization with them at the Leogane school where we shared lunch together. The pictures are where the students sang, worshipped, danced and ate at the end. The remembrances of these nice moments in Lord’s presence will stay a long time in their mind. We invited them to come at Leogane church founded by Pastor.
Our joy comes from the duration of the ministry in Haiti. Many of our churches feasted their 50th anniversary of foundation. Fauché, Leogane, Grande Plaine churches (in the island La Gonave) touched half a century. We are preparing the 55th anniversary of Palma Church on September 13th. Next year Decouze and Doco church will feast their 50th anniversary. Praise God with us for His grace in our ministry in Haiti.
Beside these joy days our pain is still there. Human rights are not respected, sexual violence on babies, teenagers, young ladies are done everywhere without punishment for the violators. Many times there are no graves for some people who have died. They are killed by bandits and their bodies are burnt and become dust before burying. More than 28 persons, passengers and motorcycle drivers were assassinated without any reason on a road where I crossed by motorcycle to get to Leogane or other places. Now I should travel on commercial boat.
The unique reason of our hope is our faith in Jesus Christ because we don’t see any issue at this crisis without end. The word of God can arrive to do miracles anytime, anywhere. I know God has power to change iron hearts into flesh hearts in our chaotic situation.
School will open in September. Now more children cannot go to school because their parents moved many times from a place to several others places. All they had as economy disappear. To rent a house or to pay transportation has become very expensive. Food is expensive and rare – life is hardest here. The poverty increases for Haitian families. Sometime we ask “How does a Haitian manage to live in his own country?”
We ask you pray with us. Don’t miss the opportunity to send a support even if it is small to our Church INDEPENDENT CHRISTIAN ALLIANCE CHURCH. Our poor people, our widows, our orphan girls, our churches in the backcountry, our children without any scholarship are waiting for you to lend your loving hands to satisfy some of their needs.

The recent headlines from the massacre in Kenscoff Haiti remind us that no place is totally safe from continued gang warfare. Fortunately, God has kept most of the ICA church and school sites safe!
In December there is supposed to be a national election day – pray they can facilitate a fair and free election that will provide a future and a hope for the people of Haiti. Your continued generous support is essential in these days for the gospel to impact children and adults.
